    Notable Features:
Handmade during the Art Deco era
The pendant features a huge Baltic amber stone with a deep orange hue and natural lighter orange inclusions
The amber was carved into an oval cabochon which beautifully displays this hue
This pendant was strung on two strands of Tahitian pearls
Each pearl showcases a gorgeous deep purple-grey hue with a peacock iridescence in green, purple, and blue hues
Completed with a .925 sterling silver toggle clasp
When worn, the necklace rests against the décolletage on most people
    Damage:
Age appropriate wear. There is one light scratches to the face of the Baltic amber; this is not immediately noticeable when worn and can be re-polished by your local jeweler. Minor tarnish on the sterling silver gives this necklace an antique quality we believe is rather lovely. The price has been reduced to reflect this.

    The History
The Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specially cut to fit the design of the piece. During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would usually take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Baltic amber is found only in northern Europe and accounts for much of the known amber in the world. Amber is an organic fossilized resin that is formed when sap exudes from pine trees and hardens over many years. It typically contains an internal matrix of materials, including water or gas bubbles, organic plant matter, or even insects. Baltic amber specifically comes from sap that is 35 to 50 million years old and came from trees that are now covered by the Baltic Sea. It has been used since ancient times to create jewelry and decorative ornaments, and has long been used in folk medicine for its healing properties.
Tahitian pearls are grown in French Polynesia, a group of 5 island archipelagos that covers the size the Europe. These pearls are relatively new to the pearl world, and are highly sought after due to their unique color that is completely natural. Unlike the more common pearl types, Tahitian pearls typically have a naturally dark body color. They are formed from the black lip oyster. These pearls have become some of the most sought after expensive pearls in the world. Because of their vast color range matching these pearls into a finished strand is an enormous task that could require thousands of loose pearls to create a single strand.
