Lycoptera is a primitive bone fish,Its body length is generally 6-10 cm, and its body is fusiform or long fusiform. The dorsal fin is located behind, opposite to the anal fin, with superior nerve spines in front. The membranous bone of the head has a thin inter-optical layer, a straight tail and round scales. The teeth are tapered. Very rare. The wolffin fish is endemic to East Asia in the late Mesozoic (Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous). It has a history of about 140 million years and is now extinct.
Lycoptera are distributed in Siberia, Mongolia, North Korea and western China. Wolffin fish are generally well-preserved and are buried in situ under static water environment. Judging from the dense burial of fossils, the fish seems to have the habit of swimming in groups.
