This is a rare ticket envelope and ticket stub from the March 11th, 1938 evening performance of the Original Broadway production of ORSON WELLES' Mercury Theatre Production of the William Shakespeare classic "JULIUS CAESAR" which was performed in repertory with the THOMAS DEKKER play "THE SHOEMAKERS' HOLIDAY" at the Mercury Theatre in New York City. ("Julius Caesar" opened November 11th, 1937 and ran for 157 performances. "The Shoemakers' Holiday" opened January 1st, 1938 and ran for 69 performances.) ..... "JULIUS CAESAR" starred JOSEPH HOLLAND in the title role and ORSON WELLES as "Marcus Brutus" and the cast included GEORGE COULOURIS, JOSEPH COTTEN, MARTIN GABEL, HIRAM SHERMAN, JOHN A. The March 11th, 1938 ticket stub measures approx. 1 1/2" X 1 3/8" inches ..... CONDITION: With the exception of handwritten performance details and minor creasing to the envelope, this rare set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
