DESCRIPTION:
This Vintage
WOODEN Coca-Cola 24 bottle CRATE features the distinctive, recognizable, faded red Coca-Cola cursive font lettering painted upon a pale faded yellow background. The lettering reads: "DRINK Coca-Cola in Bottles" on the long sides of the box and "Salem, OR" is painted upon the shorter sides, the ones with the handle cut outs. On the inside of these crates, there is typically a date and info. panel located in the corner. This one is faded and difficult to read but the date appears to be 1949.
Condition:
This crate was constructed of Heavy, thick, hard wood. It is no longer as heavy and as hard as it was 70 years ago but that is because it has done a ton of work and hasn't rested for more than 50 years. One side of the crate is damaged but still in tact(See images). The Metal reinforcements that they would use to strengthen these boxes are still there on the corners and edges. The box is still pretty strong and would be useful as a tool. The paint and lettering has faded with age. The Wood is still strong, just not AS strong as it once was. It is in fair, pre-owned condition and has been priced with this in mind.
The bottom slats have a stain on them. Some of it is from moisture, some of the wear is from insects, and the rest is from age. This
Would make an excellent restoration project!
